Posters promoting a show that crossed over the casts of two Princeton dance groups: the Black Arts Company and the newly-rebooted DoroBucci. A colorful style reminiscent of fashion zines was requested by the publicity heads for the show's branding. I designed a poster layout and style that used mixed media to evoke a scrapbook, heavily editing the pictures from the photoshoot taken by Ela Gerbemariam with bold effects and a papery background. This was uncommon for a Princeton dance group at the time, as they usually used raw photos for their publicity materials. To produce a poster in this style at scale for every single dancer in BAC and DoroBucci, I created an easy-to-use Photoshop template for myself and the publicity heads. These "naked" posters were then handed off to Nicolas Treland, who doodled on top of them to create a final flyer that truly lived up to the show's name.
Final posters, combining papery layouts with doodle overlays.
Initial proof of concept, pre-doodling. Purple and red variants were meant to represent the brand colors of BAC and DoroBucci respectively.
